The first-day city exploration in Xi'an begins by visiting one of China's impressive artifacts - The Terracotta Army, which is widely known throughout the world ever since some local farmers discovered it in 1974. You will be warmly welcomed at the airport and taken to the world renowned Longmen Grottoes on your first day. These contains numerous inscriptions and one of the most famous stone inscriptions in China. On the second half of the day, you will visit the White Horse Temple, built over 1900 years ago. Surrounded by trees, you will feel the tranquility and gain a sense of calmness. The temple itself contains architectural structures that you will definitely admire. The Luoyang museum contains a vast collection of artifacts, dating back to hundreds of years. By the end of the day, you will gain a lot of insight and knowledge of the everlasting Chinese culture.

Vicinity of Shaolin

You will be exploring the Shaolin Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As the name might predict, Shaolin Martial Arts and Zen Buddhism flourished here. You can visit the martial arts training center in the premises, if you are interested in learning about Martial Arts. The Shaolin Temple is a Buddhist Temple, and features various relics and sculptures relating to Buddhism. The complex encompasses more than 50,000 square meters, and touring the site for couple of hours will not do the justice.
