Camping is one of the latest crazes in China. People start to retreat to nature to feel a sense of peace and calm again. Below we provide a roundup of camping sites for everyone in Shanghai.

 

CHAO CAMPING

Away from downtown Shanghai, this campsite owns four different features of camping areas. This place provides you either a chance to pitch a tent by yourself or enjoy the luxury of glamping that is ready and waiting for you. It can offer you Vidalido American-style tent with the space of one bedroom and one living room which are nice for families while the Offweek tent is exquisite with an outdoor canopy in front of it. LUCHANG CAMP GROUND

The campground is located on the Cheng Lan Hu Xin Island as a heaven for endless forests and lakes. It is definitely an outdoor playground with a variety of activities for the family. Thanks to its location you can enjoy fishing just next to your tent or exploring the river via Kayaking. Take your children to meet small animals such as duck pig, sheep, and deer or experience the horse ride.

UTOP1A

UTOP1A is located on Chongming Island, an hour’s drive from Shanghai downtown. There are three types of camps sites: wooden floor sites with parking spaces, adjacent river campsites and grass campsites. This place has a vast grassland for your fluffy friends and children to run around.  A lake surrounded by the campground offers you a chance to enjoy Kayaking.

Facilities: 3 Washbasins, 4 Toilets, 2 Shower House. Allow renting tents, heaters, power banks, tables, chairs, lamps, kitchen utensils, etc. Can buy gas, wood, water, etc. There are free parking spaces.

 

 

XIJIAO GROVE CAMPSITE

What makes this campground special is that you can experience picking up organic vegetables by yourself during your camping. There are different areas to pitch a tent such as in the forest, next to the lake or on the grassland.  When weather conditions are nice, on every Saturday they will hold a game to let the campers attend and win a special prize. Kids can enjoy slides and sandpits while you can do some Kayaking on Jinlan Lake.

Notice
  1. Facility conditions in campgrounds are not as good as in downtown Shanghai.
  2. Please kindly note there will be train or airplane noises at night due to the location, therefore you are recommended to bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
  3. Headlamps, flashlights, lanterns and outdoor lighting like torches or LED tube lights will keep your campsite well-lit
  4. Bring hygiene items and toiletries, including towels, washcloths, soap, shampoo, shower shoes, your toothbrush and toothpaste and your contact lens case and solution.
  5. Stay safe with insect repellant, water bottles, sunscreen, first-aid kit and portable fire extinguisher.
  6. If you are camping with your pet or child, you will also need to bring their items.
