So, here are some of the top hidden beaches in Malaysia that is free of crowds or off the tourist trail.

Pasir Tengkorak Beach, Langkawi

Langkawi is a beautiful archipelago made up of more than 100 islands on the west coast of Malaysia. Among the many beaches in Langkawi, Pasir Tengkorak is a lovely isolated beach ignored by many tourists who settle among the popular ones on the southern side.

A relaxing getaway, you can get within an half an hour from Kuah town that offers a range of activities such as swimming, sunbathing, picnicking and trekking.

Pulau Tiga, Kota Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu or fondly known as KK, is a gorgeous capital city of the state of Sabah, which belongs to the east part of Malaysia. Having said that, Pulau Tiga is one of the 3 islands that makes up the Pulau Tiga Park.

This is a hidden treasure of Kota Kinabalu many don’t really know of, at the same time, a great news for those who have dreamt of visiting the beach in the global hit “survivor”! In fact, it’s the first location used for the reality series, which turned Palau Tiga into the “Survivor Island” afterwards.

Besides getting a tan in the white sandy beaches and snorkeling or diving in the crystal-clear blue water, Pulau Tiga is famous for its therapeutic natural volcanic mud bath that can be a great substitute for your typical luxury spa.  So, give it a shot and go au naturel on these few beaches, which are mostly empty and will take around 2 and half-hours ride from Kota Kinabalu.

Best Season – March to December

Kerachut & Monkey Beach, Penang

Speaking of Penang, might remind you of the images of the colonial George Town or the world-famous “char kuay teow” dish unique in its own right. But who knows of its mesmerizing remote beaches hidden within the west coast? Kerachut and Monkey beaches are those insta-worthy spots hardly known by anyone, even the locals.

Once you arrive in the Penang national park, walking to the monkey beach would be a quiet journey hiking through the jungle trail (approx. one and half hours from Penang National Park), but once you get here, all your fatigue will be vanished swinging on the swings and laying in the hammocks by the beach.

After recharging, pack your bags and take the path to the Kerachut that will take another long walkabout until you discover a wonderful paradise with a white soft-sanded coastline and yellow sandstone rocks bordering the jungle.

When you touch the bridge that enters the beach, you will find another peculiar spot to your left, which is one of the four Meromictic lakes in Asia that has 2 layers of unmixable combination of salt and fresh water. Its practically an empty beach with no single soul, which makes a perfect getaway for your friends and family.

However, swimming in the beach is strictly prohibited due to some venomous jellyfish, steep slopes and high waves. So instead of taking a mindless risk, heading to the nearby Pantai Kerachut Turtle Conservation Centre is greatly recommended to witness how baby turtles hatch themselves out of their shells.
